北京时间2月28日，国际体育仲裁法庭（CAS）公布了“世界反兴奋剂机构（WADA）诉孙杨和国际泳联案听证会”的裁决书， 孙杨被禁赛八年（Sun Yang is sanctioned with an eight-year period of ineligibility），即日起生效（starting on the date of the CAS award）。
但孙杨此前的比赛成绩仍然有效。裁定的禁赛理由为：孙杨未完整配合反兴奋剂检查（tampering with any part of Doping Control）且未能足够证明为何破坏检测样本（failed to establish that he had a compelling justification to destroy his sample collection containers）。
