fade与wither这两个动词都有“凋谢”之意。
fade : 侧重指渐渐失去色彩和光泽。
- If you hang your clothes out in the bright sun, they will fade.
衣服挂在光线强的地方晾晒会褪色。 - My suntan is already fading.
我晒黑的肤色已经开始变浅了。 - They arrived home just as the light was fading (= as it was getting dark).
天色变暗时，他们到家了。 - The sun had faded the blue walls.
太阳把蓝色的墙晒褪了色。
wither : 指因无活力而丧失生命力。
- Grass had withered in the fields.
田里的草都枯萎了。 - This country is in danger of allowing its industrial base to wither away.
这个国家正面临着工业基础萎缩的危险。
