feign、pretend与simulate这些动词均有“假装”之意。
feign常和pretend换用，一般指言行上的“装做，假装”如装无知、悲哀；装死、疯或装做睡眠等。
- You know how everyone feigns surprise when you tell them how old you are.
你知道当你告诉别人你的年龄时，他们如何故作惊讶。 - The prosecution claimed that the defendant had feigned the injury.
原告代理律师称被告的伤是伪装的。 - She responded to his remarks with feigned amusement.

pretend : 指公开表示的与心里想的与客观实际不符合，含公开承认其虚假的意味。
- He pretended (that) he didn't mind, but I knew that he did.
他假装不在乎，但我知道他很介意。 - The children pretended (that) they were dinosaurs.

simulate : 主要指模仿他人或他物的样子，假装具有他人或他物的特点。
- In cheap furniture, plastic is often used to simulate wood.
廉价家具经常用塑料模仿木材。 - Ruth simulated pleasure at seeing Sam, but really she wished he hadn't come.
