区别辨析prejudice与bias

这两个名词均有“偏见,成见”之意。

prejudice : 侧重指在缺乏理由或证据之前就形成怀疑的、有恶感的偏见。

  • a victim of racial prejudice
    种族偏见的受害者
  • Their decision was based on ignorance and prejudice.
    他们的决定是由于无知和偏见。
  • There is little prejudice against workers from other EU states.
    对来自其他欧盟国家的劳工可说并无偏见。
  • I must admit to a prejudice in favour of British universities.

bias : 指因个人的好恶或偏见,对人或物作出的不正确、或好或坏的判断或意见。

  • accusations of political bias in news programmes (= that reports are unfair and show favour to one political party)
    对新闻报道中政治偏袒的指责
  • Employers must consider all candidates impartially and without bias.
    雇主必须公平而毫无成见地考虑所有求职者。
  • Some institutions still have a strong bias against women.
    有些机构仍然对妇女持有很大偏见。
