蛋黄之所以称为蛋黄，是因为这种胶状的物体是黄色的，而 yolk 之所以叫 yolk ，也是因为 yolk 含有“黄色”之意。它与表示“黄色”的 yellow 是同源词，都源于古英语 geolo / geolu 。
