区别辨析at last、at length、eventually、finally、in the end与lastly

这些词或词组均含有“最后,终于”之意。

at last :多指经主观努力,克服各种困难后才终于达到目的。

  • At last we're home!
    我们终于到家了!
  • At long last the cheque arrived.
    支票终于到了。

at length :强调经历一段长时间后终于完成,侧重在时间部分。

  • At length my father went into the house.
    我父亲最后还是进了屋。

eventually :侧重于动作或行为的结果。

  • Our flight eventually left five hours late.
    我们的班机最终晚了五个小时起飞。
  • Eventually, the army caught up with him in Latvia.
    最终,大部队在拉脱维亚赶上了他。

finally :常与at last换用,都可用于对往事的描述,但finally不带感情色彩,指一系列事情的最后结局。
