区别辨析club、association、institute、league、union与society

这些名词均有“社团、会社、协会”之意。

club : 表俱乐部或会社，其成员因志同道合，有共同兴趣、爱好而组织到一起进行社交、娱乐或体育等活动。

• a golf/tennis, etc. club
  高尔夫球、网球等俱乐部
• a chess/film/movie, etc. club
  国际象棋、电影等俱乐部
• to join/belong to a club
  加入俱乐部；属于某俱乐部

association : 指较为正式的组织，强调兴趣和需要的一致性。

  你参加了专业学会或行业协会没有？

institute : 指为专门的目标而建立的学会或研究所。

  （英国皇家）特许会计师协会

league : 指为了共同的目的和利益而组成的社团、同盟或联合会。

• the League of Nations
  国际联盟
• a meeting of the Women's League for Peace
  妇女和平联盟会议

union : 多指工会，也指学会或协会。

• I feel that women in all types of employment can benefit from joining a union.
  我认为女性无论从事什么工作，加入工会都是有好处的。

society : 可与association换用，但前者的宗旨更严格，会员之间联系更紧密，活动更积极。
