区别辨析enclose、encircle、envelop、fence与surround

enclose、encircle、envelop、fence与surround这些动词均有“包围”之意。

enclose : 指把某物四周围住或封闭起来,使之与外界隔绝。

  • The park that encloses the monument has recently been enlarged.
    环绕着纪念碑的那个公园最近扩建了。

encircle : 侧重在某事物周围围成圈状。

  • The house is encircled by a high fence.
    房屋四周围着高高的栅栏。
  • Villaverde is one of the high-rise districts that encircle Madrid.
    马德里周边有很多高层建筑区,维拉维尔德就是其中一个。

envelop : 着重指把某个物体完全包起来或整个封起来。

fence : 通常指用栅栏栏开或围起来。
