区别辨析feeling、sensation、sense与perception

feeling、sensation、sense与perception这些名词均含“感觉”之意。

feeling : 最普通用词,既可指身体上的感觉,如冷暖、饥饿、疼痛等,又可指精神上的感觉,如喜、怒、哀、乐、失望等。

  • I had a tingling feeling in my fingers.
    我手指感到刺痛。
  • I've got this strange feeling in my stomach.
    我的胃里有这种怪怪的感觉。
  • My toes were so cold that I'd lost all feeling in them.
    我的脚趾冻得完全失去知觉了。

sensation系较严密的科学用词,指听觉、味觉、视觉、嗅觉或触觉;还可指引起激动或轰动的事物。

  • a burning sensation
    灼烧的感觉
  • I had no sensation of pain whatsoever.
    我没有任何痛苦的感觉。
  • The disease causes a loss of sensation in the fingers.
    这种病会使手指失去知觉。

sense : 主要指人或动物身体上的感觉。复数形式指人的知觉。

  • With her excellent sense of smell, she could tell if you were a smoker from the other side of the room.
    她嗅觉灵敏,在房间的另一端就能知道你是否抽烟。
  • My cold is so bad I've lost my sense of smell/taste (= I can't smell/taste anything).
    我感冒很严重,闻不到任何气味了/尝不出任何味道了。

perception : 侧重对外界刺激的反应和对产生感觉的物体的辨别。

  • Drugs can alter your perception of reality.
    毒品会改变你对现实的感知。
